What should I wear to the opera?

Whatever you want! We welcome anything from black tie to jeans and everything in between. Be fancy, be comfortable, be extra, be sparkly, be yourself…whatever you wear, just be at the opera.

Will I understand what the singers are saying? Don’t they sing in other languages?

Opera is a larger than life artform. There are sets, costumes, orchestra, and glorious singing actors. It is the best of live theater, concerts, and raw emotion rolled into one. Trust us, you will understand. And you will probably laugh and cry and remember the essence of our humanity. But just in case you are still worried, there are also translations projected above the stage so you can literally understand each word.

Is Syracuse Opera a non-profit?
